Species distribution map

Range & Habitat:

Recorded throughout the northern part of the state; the Camden County record is curious.

Usually seen at rocky riffles of small rivers and large streams where it seems to disappear as it flies over the ripples.

Description:

Our smallest clubtail, distinguished by the rings around each abdominal segment and the white claspers. See Southern Pygmy Clubtail for comparison. Other clubtails with a ringed pattern are much larger. Males are green with black thoracic markings; the green is replaced with yellow in females and young males.

State: S4 - Apparently secure in New Jersey
