            Gomphus (Gomphurus) septima (Westfall, 1956)

Species distribution map

Range & Habitat:

A disjunct subspecies (G. s. delawarensis) found from NJ into PA and NY along the Delaware. Until recently, only known in New Jersey from exuviae collected along the upper river.

Description:

A rather large clubtail with a moderate club.  The thorax has wide U-shaped yellow stripes.  The anterior lateral thoracic stripe is usually incomplete.  A series or yellow streaks down the dorsal abdomen, but the dorsal surface of the club is usually black except for a tiny yellow basal spot that may be present on S8

 

Conservation Status:

State: S1 - Critically imperiled in NJ

Global: G2 - Imperiled globally, very vulnerable to extinction
