Species distribution map

Range & Habitat:

Reported throughout northern New Jersey, so far it has not been found on the coastal plain.

Generally found along large rivers, but also occurs along lakes in the highlands region.

Description:

Mostly dark, with dark blue eyes and a bit of lighter coloring on the lower thorax.  Blue on the abdomen restricted to small basal rings and small spots on S8 & 9

Blue-tipped Dancer has (believe it or not) a blue tip to the abdomen rather than the tiny blue spots.

 

Conservation Status:

State: S2S3 - Rare to imperiled in New Jersey

Global: G5 - Secure globally, but possibly rare in parts of its range
