  Martha's Pennant
            Celithemis martha Williamson, 1922

Species distribution map

Range & Habitat:

Found on the coastal plain, mainly in the Pine Barrens.

Ponds and lakes, often with marshy edges.

Description:

Males are blue-black with a single dark basal spot on the hindwing.

Females have a single basal spot on the hindwing and a row of yellow triangles down the abdomen.

Faded Pennant is similar but has reddish abdominal spots and has more amber in the wing spot.

 

 

Conservation Status:

State: S3S4 - Apparently secure but should be watched

Global: G4 - Apparently secure globally
