Description:

Very small.

Mature males are back with a bit of pruinosity (frosting?) at the base of the abdomen.  They resemble a small stocky Belted Whiteface but generally the white does not extend as far along the abdomen and they lack red between the wings.

Females have a row of yellow spots on the top of the abdomen, becoming gradually thinner to a fine line on S7.  Female's wings usually show black and amber streaks at the base.

Conservation Status:

State: S2 - Imperiled in New Jersey

Global: G5 - Secure globally, but possibly rare in parts of its range
