JOE (Jersey Odonate Enthusiasts) is a "club" for people who enjoy
dragonfly and damselfly watching. There are no membership dues and
no meetings with Robert's Rules of Order. Field trips are organized
during flight season (May - Sept, especially June) to various places
around the state. Anyone can "lead" a trip; you don't have to
be an expert in identification. Qualifications include knowing how
to get to an area, knowing where to look, and providing directions.
There may be totally informal winter meeting(s) at someone's house if they are willing to host, where
photos or some aspect of odeing can be discussed.
JOE promotes catch and release for ID purposes only unless it is
a new state record that needs a voucher specimen. Records from JOE
trips will be posted on the
njodes@yahoogroups.com listserv and significant records will
be forwarded to the NJ Odonata Survey for inclusion in its data
collection.
Upcoming events can be viewed by clicking here; trip reports are
also available. Trip reports and discussion are usually posted on
njodes@yahoogroups.com
